Through blood tests of two patients, the diagnosis was accurate for them with Vibrio vulnificus infection with a very high mortality rate. Due to the rapid and dangerous illness, doctors cannot keep both of their lives alive.

Disease from strange bacteria caused by seafood

Dr. Lam Thien Lai, deputy head of Quanzhou First Hospital's Special Care Department, said that Vibrio vulnificus is actually a bacteria living in the sea, called the "silent killer in the ocean". They are often parasitic in seafood such as shrimp, snails, sea fish, . This is a type of bacteria that live freely in the coastal environment and is suitable to grow in saltwater at a temperature of 20 degrees C, bacteria often appear more often between May and October. After infection and disease develop rapidly, most patients will die from multiple organ failure within 48 hours.
