The 63-year-old mother wanted to have more children for her husband, unexpectedly, the 'miracle' made everyone surprised

Not long ago, Marcie dela Cruz (37 years old, living in Hawaii, USA) still surrendered that she could never have children.

Until 2 years ago, she successfully gave birth to her first son through IVF in vitro fertilization. Because she wanted her son to have more children to be friends, she and her husband, Raymond (63), decided to carry out the final transfer of the last 2 frozen embryos. But what they get is much bigger than that.

During the first ultrasound, Marcie thought she had twins. But then the doctor said an embryo had split into two and one of them separated again. Thus, she had up to 5 children in her stomach instead of 2 as expected.

"Lucky and wonderful! 5 children are something we never thought of. When I heard the doctor's announcement, I was so quiet that I couldn't say anything because I couldn't believe it was true", Marcie share.

Like many other multiple pregnancies, Marcie has to give birth to 5 babies when she is not enough to ensure safety for both mother and child. Four boys and one girl were born on October 10, becoming the first successful fifth birth in Hawaii.

After more than 2 months in the intensive care room, all 5 had to go home. When born, no baby weighs more than 1.3kg but when discharged, it weighs about 3kg.

"It's amazing to see a successful set of 5 people. Everyone in the hospital from the beginning just tried their best to give them the best possible results. Luckily everything was "It is a good ending," said Dr. Charles Neal, medical director of the hospital's intensive care unit for infants.

What do mothers need to pay attention to?

Multiple pregnancies are at risk of health problems, including premature labor and pre-eclampsia (a pregnancy condition characterized by high blood pressure and protein in the urine). However, pregnant mothers do not panic and just need to visit more carefully.

The pregnant mother should go for a checkup once a week during the second half of the pregnancy. From week 20 to week 32, the doctor will perform an ultrasound to measure the length of the cervix (a predictive sign of your ability to give birth early) as well as to monitor the growth of each child in the abdomen. .
