How to preserve fruits with sand

After all, what's the special thing about holding the sand?

According to a long-time salesperson, they use it as a secret to preserving fruits with extremely high efficiency! Thanks to this way, the fruits sold out of stock are always fresh, delicious and not crushed as we see them.

How to preserve fruits with 1 handful of sand

Very simply, you just need to wash the fruit, drain it, then cover it with about 10cm thick sand, and add sand to each layer of fruit. So the fruit will retain freshness many times more than normal storage!

This applies to all fruits.

Note, if you want to preserve fruits at home longer, remember:

+ Rinse under running water. Ideally, you should use a nozzle with a small but strong beam and spray it straight into the fruit, causing the dirt and bacteria to fall on the pods.

+ Should soak the fruit in salt water for about 5 minutes, do not soak for too long because it can alter the substance in the fruit.

+ Use a soft cloth to clean the fruiting part because this is the place where bacteria and mold easily penetrate, causing the fruit to be damaged and rotten.

+ Take a cool fan to dry the fruit quickly within a few minutes.

+ Put in a plastic bag and remove the refrigerator or put in wet sand and place under the bed.

In addition, it is particularly important that fruits are preserved for a long time depending on the selection stage. Because, if you choose ripe fruit, the fruit is not of quality, no matter how good the preservation technique is, how appropriate the environment will be.

Therefore, we should not preserve ripe or slightly soft fruits. It is best to choose fruits that are slightly green, or just ripe.

You can refer to some of the following ways to preserve fruits:

Butter

Use the newspaper to wrap the avocado fruit to slow its decomposition process, so the avocado will be fresh longer. If you have already added the butter without eating it, then use a sealed food wrap to prevent the flesh from reaching the air.

Lemon

- Choose fresh lemons, fruits that are not deep or shelled.

- Take a clean dry wooden container, put a layer of sand about 5 - 6 cm thick. Note that the sand must be dried.

- Use lime to rub the fruit stalk, then use wrapping paper.

- Put the knob on the bottom and cover with sand. Place in a dry and airtight place.

Also with lemon you can put in plastic bags and tightly sealed, we can also keep fresh lemon for 15-20 days.

Banana

If bananas are left to ripen naturally, only one to two days without using the intestines will be soft and transparent, then gradually sour. However, if the bananas start to ripen, we bring them to a place with less sunlight and airtight so we can keep the bananas fresh for 2 weeks. Or use a plastic bag to seal the end of the fruit.

Grapes

Choose grapes: If you want to buy a lot of grapes and bring them to preserve it slowly, you must first choose a medium, not ripe. Ripe grapes, though delicious, cannot be kept at home for long.

Storage: prepare a cardboard box, lining 2 to 3 layers of paper and place the grape horizontally, not stacked and put the grape box in a cool place preserved at 0 degrees, this way can preserve grapes 1 to 2 months.

Tomato

We often think of vegetables and fruits in the refrigerator to keep them fresh, but tomatoes are another case. The best way to store ripe tomatoes is to leave it at room temperature (about 25oC).

When we put tomatoes in the refrigerator, the cold will prevent the tomato from going on, meaning that the fresh taste of the tomatoes will stop growing. Cold will make tomatoes dry, tomato peels become wrinkled, water is lost and tomatoes are fragile when you cut them. At that time, the sweet aroma of tomatoes was also lost.

Instead of storing in the refrigerator, it is recommended to store tomatoes at room temperature or cool temperatures (not cold). Many people also carefully put tomatoes in the cellar. In order to prevent the tomato from getting bruised, do not put them on top of each other. Or if you put a lot of tomatoes, you should put a piece of tissue paper or lined newspaper in between.

Orange and fresh grapefruit

Choose ripe oranges, free from pests or scratches. Using lime to apply to the fruit stalks we can prevent bacteria and microorganisms from entering the orange and grapefruit meat. Then buried in clean sand, kept in a dry, dry place will keep oranges for 2 months. When you take out the orange, grapefruit is still as fresh as when it was first picked.
